To those suffering in their mind, body, and spirit…I won’t promise you it will get easier. I can only tell you that what you feel is valid, and what you do with those feelings is your power. Often, we are told to “Just smile” or “We can’t lose you,” but I am here to offer this perspective: no one is living what you are living…the challenges…the dark times…none of it. No one can tell you what to do with those feelings. Many offer advice from their point of view, and some give thoughts on subjects they have no experience to base them on. But one thing I have found is that the first thing to hold close to your heart and mind is that no matter what you are feeling, you are not broken. Second, regardless of origin, those thoughts and feelings are yours and unique to you.
Often, we are told we need to fit in two boxes, “Be Unique” and “Fit In.” I am here to tell you that those socialistic ideals are not obtainable. Those ideals cause people to become shells…on the outside, you may fit the image, and on the inside, you may claw to get out of what is not your truth. If you have not heard this yet, I want you to know that life is not what you see in the movies, on social media, or a particular socio-economic lifestyle. Life is raw, harsh, and filled with lessons we would rather not experience. But life is also love and peace. Unfortunately, most of the time, it feels like life has chosen the dark side, and it can be overwhelming. Speaking of overwhelming…
